Buttered Hot Chocolate
(nutrient dense, egg free, nut free, soy free)
1 can of organic coconut milk
2 tablespoons of collagen powder
2 tablespoons of maple syrup
2 tablespoons of organic, pasture-raised butter
3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder (organic, fair-trade preferably)
Place all ingredients into a medium saucepan on stovetop.
On medium heat, whisk all together until combined and warm (do not boil!)
Can serve immediately or blend in high speed blender for about 3 seconds to get a more frothy consistency.
Optional: add some mini marshmallows!
Makes 2-3 servings depending on the size of your mugs :)
Instead of coconut milk, feel free to replace with about 2 cups of any milk you have on hand. Cow's milk preferably organic, whole milk and/or raw.
Try coconut sugar (low-glycemic) or raw honey instead of maple syrup.
To make this completely dairy free/vegan, omit the collagen and replace butter with ghee (lactose free) or a vegan butter of choice.
